We were so excited with my husband's new status that I couldn't wait to do a layout! I wanted to honor the moment he came home and took his uniform off for the last time, removed all his pins and ribbons, and kicked off the saddest pair of dress shoes that had walked many hard miles. The side of one of his shoes was so completely blown out, there was no saving them. I couldn't help but take a picture of them for the layout because they were so representative of how hard my husband worked while in the service.
The muted colors and regal designs of the Batik collection were perfect for this layout. These colors are not your traditional choices of red, white, and blue for a patriotic layout, but I like that. I mixed up different collections and thought a bright pop of color from the Rockabilly collection, coordinated unexpectedly well! I love how the stripes from the Rockabilly paper mimics the colorful ribbons on my husbands uniform shirt!
I also used some journaling spots from the Kraft collection and circled the date of my husband's discharge. I also tucked a large circle shaped Kraft journaling tag underneath the main photo that states the years
1998-2010.
Congrats Babe to nearly twelve years in and twelve years done!! Happy 4th of July America!!
What a beautiful layout, Carole. I love all it represents, and congratulations to your husband for a job well done.
