Rockabilly can be anything you want it to be

I don't know about you, but I've certainly been busy lately. In times like this, I sometimes have to wait longer than I want for the creativity bug to bite. When that happens, I try to start simple and build on a simple concept. For instance, all that I knew when I started to make this page was that I wanted to use this picture of my cousin and that I wanted it cut in a circle.
My cousin is such a wonderful person. She is a nurse and I grew up thinking of her as an aunt. I wanted to create a page that I could leave behind for my kids so that they would understand just why I thought she was so special. To do so, I wanted to make the page very special. I started by cutting rose shapes out of the paper Far Out Man from the 1974 line using my Silhouette. You can see the Rockabilly Chippy that the roses match below. I've inked it with black ink to match the papers and help it stand out.

It should be obvious by now that I love to use the black and white sides of the Rockabilly papers because I can turn them into anything I want. They are so versatile! I've used them on rough and tough boy pages and now on this very feminine page. I added some dimension to the papers with red colored mist ink. I layered my roses with felt flowers and small Prima roses.

For fun, I added some feathers and the Rockabilly fliar. The title was made with Paper Trunk's awesome sticker letters. I decided to go simple with the title and do my journaling on the back. I think this resulted in a page that highlights the beauty of my cousin and shows off all that you can do with a little bit of paper that has a splash of color added.
